A group called the Conservative Electors Association has registered with Elections B.C. with the aim of running candidates in at least 15 municipalities under the ballot name "Conservative" in the next civic elections.

The association — which says it is independent from provincial and federal Conservative parties — said in a brief statement on Thursday that the move to formally register as an elector organization "builds on the enormous momentum of the conservative movement in recent years.
